Art director and production designer Sunil Babu dies at 50

Art director and production designer Sunil Babu has passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of 50. Dulquer Salmaan wrote an emotional note on instagram.

A well-known art director and production designer Sunil Babu has passed away due to cardiac arrest. He was 50 years old.

Recently, he worked in Dulquer Salmaan starrer Telugu romantic drama 'Sita Ramam'. He was an art director and production designer in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films.

Sunil Babu started his career as an assistant to art director Sabu Cyril. He has worked for films like Bheeshma Parvam, Thupakki, Maharshi, Ghajini, Oopiri, Chota Mumbai, Premam and others. He also worked in Bollywood movies such as Singh Is King, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Special 26, Paa and among others.

Sunil Babu had won the Kerala State Film Award for best art director for the movie 'Anantbhadra' (2005).

Dulquer Salmaan took to instagram and penned a heartfelt note, "Heart hurts The kindest warmest soul who quietly went about his work with so much passion and made no noise about his immense talent. Suniletta thank you for the memories. You brought life to our films. Can’t come to terms with this. Praying for your family and all those who loved you dearly." 

Sita Ramam director Hanu Raghavapudi also expressed grief over the demise of Sunil Babu. He tweeted, "This is really heartbreaking and hard to digest! Can't believe he's no longer with us now. This shows, again, how life can be unfair and unpredictable. Rest in peace, #SunilBabu sir. The world will miss you."
